Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
There is no cost to you for the assessment if you are eligible under OHIP.
Come in if you have
Red, itchy or gritty eye, discharge, crusting in the morning, sometimes in both eyes.
What happens at the appointment
Your pharmacist will ask about your symptoms and health history in a private consultation room, decide whether this is something we can treat here, and if so provide a prescription or recommend a treatment on the spot. If it needs a doctor, we will tell you and help you plan next steps.
Can a pharmacist help with pink eye?
In most cases, yes. Our pharmacists can assess the condition and, when it is appropriate, prescribe treatment, without an appointment at a doctor’s office or a walk-in clinic.
If your symptoms turn out to need a doctor, we'll tell you that and help you work out where to go next. You won't be sent away with nothing.
Assessment and treatment are subject to patient eligibility, clinical assessment, applicable Ontario legislation and regulations, and pharmacist professional judgment.
